Leeuwarden developed a pilot project with for the startup Zuen&Co, specialised in water-saving water tabs, tackling water shortage. The initiative is part of the Startup in residence programme launched by the Netherlands to connect startups and the public sector.
The Startup in Residence programme encourages the use of public procurement contracts with innovative startups. The aim is to help governments address urgent social issues with innovative solutions. It offers mentoring, training and financial support to help entrepreneurs develop their idea and connect directly with a client in the public sector.
