As part of the European project CircLocal, the Municipality of Novo mesto (Slovenia) has established a local network of organizations active in the field of circular economy and connected them on a special website called “Novi Krog” – “New Circle”
The website explains the basic concepts of circular economy, circular public procurement and Zero Waste. It presents local circular economy stakeholders and their projects and publishes current activities in the field of circular economy. The local circular economy network includes a wide range of organizations, from educational and non-governmental organisations to business and public institutions. It is open to all stakeholders whose projects contribute to strengthening the circular economy.
The main goal of the “New Circle” website is to inform citizens about good practices in the field of the circular economy, and above all, to offer them concrete advice on how they can contribute to reducing waste and protecting the environment through their daily behaviour. For this purpose, the Municipality of Novo mesto and the NGO Zavod Knof have prepared a manual “The Circular Economy: from Theory to Practice” that, in addition to examples of good practice and the chapter “How can I contribute?”, also includes an analysis of local waste flows and an analysis of concrete opportunities and challenges for the circular economy in the local environment.
